Technical Director Jim Hill Promoted to Vice President

Virginia Beach  – ICI Services Corporation announced at the company’s Fall Leadership Team Meeting the promotion of Jim Hill to Vice President. In addition to serving as the Systems Engineering Division’s Technical Director, Mr. Hill is the project manager for two ICI prime contracts with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Ship Systems Engineering Station in Philadelphia.

Mr. Hill has a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and has provided engineering support for LHA 6, LHA 7, LHA-R Flt 1, JHSV, LCS 1, LCS 2, LPD 17, MLP, and DDG 1000 Class ships for PMS 377, PMS 385, PMS 500, PMS 501, and PMS 317.  He has also performed and supervised engineering design studies for the US Maritime Administration.

Mr. Hill is the author of numerous ship survivability studies, has supervised new personal protective equipment development and the development of safety technologies to incorporate the Joint Strike Fighter onto big-deck amphibious ships and supervised technical safety support for DDG 1000. He provided inputs to the Naval Research Laboratory on the requirements for a reformulated Aqueous Film Forming Foam for firefighting and drafted and reviewed technical specifications to ensure that toxic and banned substances were not permitted into shipboard equipment.

Before joining ICI Services in 2002, Mr. Hill worked for M. Rosenblatt & Son, where he supervised the design and testing of a Navy prototype water mist fire extinguishing system for machinery spaces and served as the principal investigator for a comprehensive analysis of the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) Class aircraft carrier firemain system and as the lead engineer for the contract design phase of LPD 17 fire protection and fire extinguishing systems.

During a 21-year Navy career, Mr. Hill served as NAVSEA Electrical Engineering Group Deputy Director, as Director of Ship Systems Management responsible for Hull, Mechanical and Engineering integration into new ship designs and as Depot Maintenance Coordinator for the Atlantic Surface Fleet.
