ICI Services Earns ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Virginia Beach – ICI Services Corporation announced today the achievement of ISO 9001:2008 certification by BSI Group America, Inc., an independent ISO Certification company.
The initial certification is for ICI Service’s Dover NH office and the Quality Management System (QMS) it uses there to support the company’s Submarine Maintenance Engineering Planning and Procurement Activity (SUBMEPP) prime contract.
The International Organization for Standardization is an independent, non-government membership organization and the world’s largest developer of voluntary standards to ensure quality, safety and efficiency. The certification was earned after a stringent, week-long audit performed by BSI Group America, Inc., which found no non-conformities or areas requiring improvement.
To earn an ISO QMS certification, an applicant must demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and regulatory requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction through an effective application of the system. This includes processes for continuously improving the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and regulatory requirements.
The ISO-certified QMS includes a Quality Management Manual, 14 key processes, two key support processes, an Internal Audit Program, formal Management Reviews, monitoring and measurement of processes and products, and documented procedures for corrective and preventive actions. The QMS is integrated with ICI Services’ company-wide quality policies and objectives as well as ICI Services’ comprehensive Policies and Procedures that address Contract Management; Financial Management; Purchasing Administration; Human Resources Management; Safety; and Security.
Ray Lafortune, a former Chief Engineer of SUBMEPP, led ICI Services’ ISO certification efforts.
