NAVSEA Inactive Ships Program Selects ICI Services

Virginia Beach, VA  – ICI Services Corporation announced today that it was awarded a $6.2 million, 3-year prime contract to support the inactivation, disposal and donation of ships for PMS 333, the Naval Sea System Command’s Inactive Ships Program Office.  In addition to ICI Services Washington DC offices near the Washington Navy Yard, work will be performed in Brownsville, TX; New Orleans, LA; Chesapeake, VA; Baltimore, MD; Philadelphia, PA; and Vallejo, CA. The Columbia Group will be a subcontractor on this effort.

 

PMS 333 is responsible for the inactivation of conventionally-powered surface ships, the maintenance of inactive ships for retention or pending disposal, the disposal of ships in the inactive ship inventory; the management of inactive ship field activities; and donation of ships and shipboard material.  PMS 333 provides guidance and direct support to the Fleet during the inactivation of a Navy ship.  After decommissioning or cessation of normal ship operations, inactive Navy ships are delivered to one of the three Inactive Ships On-Site Maintenance Offices located in Bremerton, WA; Philadelphia, PA; and Pearl Harbor, HI. In addition, Maritime Administration (MARAD) National Defense Reserve Fleet facilities at James River, Fort Eustis, VA, Beaumont, TX, and Suisun Bay, Benicia, CA, can be used to augment inactive ship storage capacity if necessary.

 

ICI Services will provide technical, program, financial, environmental and occupational safety support to PMS 333, including: ship surveys; on-scene monitoring of work at ship dismantling sites; environmental assessments and compliance services; strategic planning; and cost and schedule analyses.
